Baseball Recap: Thorndale Comes Up Short

Thorndale dropped down to 5-3 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 12-5 to the Wimberley Texans. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since March 21, 2025.

As for Wimberley, the win got them back to even at 5-5-1. They haven't had any issues with Thorndale recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

For Wimberley's part, Jayden Gamez looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The Texans are undefeated when Gamez allows one or fewer earned runs, but 2-5-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Wimberley let Nathan Baker and Alex Abrusley run wild. Baker went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Abrusley went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Those three hits gave Abrusley a new career-high. Dane Mignerey was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Looking ahead, Thorndale will head out to challenge Bremond at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.33 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Wimberley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Canyon Lake at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
