The Chestatee War Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the East Forsyth Broncos at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with nine consecutive losses dating back to last season for Chestatee and three for East Forsyth.
Last Friday, Chestatee suffered a rough 45-21 loss at the hands of Cedar Shoals. Despite 52 more yards than Cedar Shoals, Chestatee couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
The losing side was boosted by Benjamin Plemons, who rushed for 197 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, East Forsyth pushed their score all the way to 34 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 50-34 fall against Madison County.
Despite their defeat, East Forsyth saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Tripp Morris, who rushed for 143 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.9 yards per carry, was perhaps the best of all. Troy Hoover also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Chestatee's defeat was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-0 North Oconee and 6-2 North Hall (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 59.9% over those games). As for East Forsyth, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Chestatee didn't have too much breathing room in their game against East Forsyth in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, but they still walked away with a 32-28 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chestatee since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
