The University Prep Panthers had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past McKinleyville 65-62. The victory was just what University Prep needed coming off of a 77-50 loss in their prior matchup.
University Prep's win on Thursday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Baron Grooms, who scored 21 points. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for him. Devin Huegel was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with nine rebounds.
University Prep's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for McKinleyville, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
University Prep will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Mt. Shasta at 6:30 p.m. on December 29th. McKinleyville won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Fall River at 3:30 p.m. on December 29th. One thing working in Fall River's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten contests.
