The Anna Coyotes had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They breezed by Community at home to the tune of 58-6. The result was nothing new for Anna, who have now won five matches by 28 points or more so far this season.
Anna found their leader in underclassman Ziondre Williams, who threw for 193 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes. Another big playmaker for Anna was Cj Miller, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Community to a paltry 182 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Anna's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out seven times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Abram Greer and his two sacks.
Anna's win was their 11th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-1. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 29 points. As for Community, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Anna will head out on the road to face off against Paris at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Paris will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 305th, while Anna is ranked 90th). As for Community, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mabank at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mabank comes in on a streak of failing to score more than ten points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
