The Four Corners Coyotes had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell 49-40 to Tohopekaliga. Four Corners lost against Tohopekaliga in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 26-24 score last time.
Four Corners' loss came despite strong showings from Karina Cruz and Danielys Pena Ponce. Cruz scored 14 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 blocks, while Pena Ponce scored 18 points along with 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Another player making a difference was Briana Carrion, who scored 4 points.
Four Corners' defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Tohopekaliga, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Four Corners will square off against Mulberry at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Tohopekaliga, they will head out on the road to face off against Orangewood Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
