It was a good run, but The Lincolnton Wolves unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Maiden by a score of 37-34. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lincolnton in their matchups with Maiden: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the loss, Lincolnton still got an impressive performance from Andre Bost, who rushed for 228 yards and a touchdown while picking up 12.7 yards per carry, and also threw for 183 yards and two touchdowns. Bost's longest rush was for an incredible 71 yards. Another player making a difference was Khamoni Heath, who rushed for 66 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Even if they lost, Lincolnton's defensive line still kept up the pressure with six sacks. Leading the way was Peyton Rangel and his two sacks.
Josh Stover had a dynamite game for Maiden, rushing for 185 yards and three touchdowns, while also throwing for 73 yards and a touchdown. Kendall Roberts also helped out as he racked up 131 rushing yards.
Lincolnton now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Maiden, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Lincolnton will head out on the road to face off against West Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Lincoln will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Maiden will take on Newton-Conover at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Newton-Conover is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
