Baseball Recap: Midland Drops Highest Score of Season Against Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Midland). They put the hurt on the Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy Tigers with a sharp 16-10 victory on Tuesday. The win was familiar territory for the Rebels, who have now won three contests in a row.

Andrew Martin made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Jaxson Scott looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Karson Thibodeaux, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Daigle, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

Midland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Midland's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-8. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Midland will head out to take on Notre Dame at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy, they will take on Gueydan at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
