High school basketball: Five-star Missouri signee Jason Crowe Jr. scores 50 in win, brings scoring average to national-best 41.6 points per game

Inglewood star is approaching career scoring record in California with 3,539 points.

Jason Crowe Jr. of Inglewood (Calif.) continued a hot start to his senior campaign Monday, pumping in 50 points in a 95-80 victory over Cypress.

The five-star Missouri signee leads the nation in scoring through five games according to statistics submitted MaxPreps, averaging 41.6 points per contest on the season. 

Crowe is shooting 51.8 percent from the field, 38.6 percent from 3-point range and 91.8 percent from the free throw line while also chipping in 6.4 assists, 5.4 steals and 4.4 rebounds per contest.

The 6-foot-3 point guard now sits just 120 points away from the career scoring record in California with 3,539 points. The record is 3,659 points established by current Baylor freshman Tounde Yessoufou — who graduated from St. Joseph (Santa Maria, Calif.) just last year.

Crowe has scored 40 or more points in four of five games for the unbeaten Sentinels. He scored 43 points in a win over  Lynwood, 46 in a victory against Millikan (Long Beach) and 45 vs. Bishop Diego (Santa Barbara) prior to his 50-point outburst last night.

Across 97 career games, Crowe is averaging 36.5 points, 5.8 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 3.6 steals per outing. He spent his freshman and sophomore seasons at Lynwood before transferring to Inglewood prior to his junior year.

Sophomore: 37.4 points, 5.8 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 3.9 steals
Junior: 35.3 points, 6.1 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 3.1 steals

Crowe earned MaxPreps National Freshman of the Year honors in 2022-23, second team MaxPreps Sophomore All-America honors in 2023-24 and first team MaxPreps Junior All-America honors in 2024-25.

Inglewood (5-0) returns to the court tomorrow night for a game against George Washington Prep (Los Angeles). 

If Crowe continues scoring at his current pace, he is projected to break the record against Beverly Hills on Dec. 9 in a game streaming on the NFHS Network.
