The Clark Chargers will take on the Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners in a tournament on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Clark gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They took down Rancho 25-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chargers.
Clark's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Reed, who picked up 41 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 83 yards on only 11 carries. Annika Griffith also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Meanwhile, Southeast Career Tech entered their tilt with Boulder City on Saturday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Everything went their way against the Eagles as they made off with a 32-6 victory. Considering the Roadrunners have won five matchups by more than 19 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Clark better keep an eye on Leyla Randolph. She was instrumental in Southeast Career Tech's win, rushing for 67 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, while also throwing for 156 yards and two touchdowns. Randolph also deserves a shoutout for her performance on D, making seven total tackles and defending two passes in addition to snagging an interception. Jayla Elfberg was Randolph's top target, picking up 87 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Southeast Career Tech's defense made their presence known, laying out Makayla Nelson. three times. In that department, Meeya Ream was the leader with two sacks.
Clark's win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-5. As for Southeast Career Tech, their record is now 8-2.
Clark came up short against Southeast Career Tech when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 13-2. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Randolph, who rushed for 63 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 75 yards and two touchdowns.
