Basketball Recap: Sierra Lutheran Takes a Loss

Sierra Lutheran was the 42-19 winner over Oasis Academy when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Sierra Lutheran Falcons fell just short of the Oasis Academy Bighorns by a score of 28-26 on Monday.

Despite the loss, Sierra Lutheran still got an impressive performance from Chloe Friend, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Friend has been hot recently, having also posted four or more steals the last three times she's played.

It was another big night for Grace Laca, who posted ten points along with five rebounds and four steals for Oasis Academy. That makes it four consecutive games in which Laca has scored at least a third of Oasis Academy's points. Reese Laca was another key player, putting up six points.

Sierra Lutheran dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Oasis Academy, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Sierra Lutheran wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 26-12 loss against Smith Valley on the 17th. Oasis Academy and Pershing County will compete for holiday cheer at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Pershing County's defense has only allowed 26.7 points per game this season, so Oasis Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them.
