The Redlands East Valley Wildcats had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 64-44 margin over Citrus Valley. Given Redlands East Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while Citrus Valley is ranked 725th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Redlands East Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Darrell Green, who scored 21 points along with two blocks. Jeremiah Ivens was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five steals and two blocks.
Redlands East Valley is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Citrus Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11.
Redlands East Valley will square off against Oak Hills at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Oak Hills knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 contests -- so hopefully Redlands East Valley likes a good challenge. As for Citrus Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Yucaipa at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
