Basketball Game Preview: Clinton Prairie Gophers vs. Eastern Comets

Clinton Prairie is 9-1 against Eastern since December of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Clinton Prairie Gophers will host the Eastern Comets at 6:00 p.m. Eastern took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Clinton Prairie, who comes in off a win.

Clinton Prairie is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their game on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 54-10 win over Frankfort. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Clinton Prairie got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Abbey Swan out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. Swan is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Taymorgan102 Taylor Morgan, who posted 14 points.

Meanwhile, Eastern played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Carroll 66-26. The defeat continues a trend for the Comets in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost five in a row.

Clinton Prairie has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. As for Eastern, their loss dropped their record down to 1-18.

Clinton Prairie didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Eastern in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 46-40 victory.
