Merritt Island Christian has struggled against City of Life Christian Academy recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Merritt Island Christian still got an impressive performance from Trey Nevad, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Nevad is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Angstadt, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Leading City of Life Christian Academy to victory were Isaac Manlove and Nathan Thompson. Manlove scored 20 points, while Thompson scored 27 points. Manlove is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played.
Merritt Island Christian has fallen quite a ways from their 17-8 record last season and are now at 4-7. As for City of Life Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.
Merritt Island Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hampden DuBose Academy at 2:30 p.m. on January 19th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Hampden DuBose Academy is ranked 732nd, while Merritt Island Christian is ranked 727th). As for City of Life Christian Academy, they will face off against St. Edward's at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Nate Sparkman and Thompson.
