The Brecksville-Broadview Heights Bees will square off against the South Rebels at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Brecksville-Broadview Heights beats South with nine runs on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Bees put the hurt on Stow-Munroe Falls with a sharp 9-2 victory on Wednesday. The win was familiar territory for the Bees, who have now won 13 contests in a row.

Tess Cozza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Rowan Weber and Gianna Roth did most of the damage at the plate: Weber got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Roth went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Bridget Foley was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Brecksville-Broadview Heights kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in 13 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, while South put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Lorain. The Rebels were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Titans. With that victory, the Rebels brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Casey Heil was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Summer Bliss (Lake Erie College), who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Brecksville-Broadview Heights' win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for South, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10-1.
South's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Brecksville-Broadview Heights has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for South, though, as they've been averaging only 3.6 strikeouts. Will Brecksville-Broadview Heights keep running through batters, or will the Rebels buck the trend?
Brecksville-Broadview Heights came out on top in a nail-biter against South in their previous matchup back in April of 2022, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Bees repeat their success, or do the Rebels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
