The Raritan Rockets will take on the New Egypt Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Raritan's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so New Egypt's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Saturday, Raritan didn't have quite enough to beat Freehold Township and fell 3-2. The Rockets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Raritan saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matt Melendez, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, New Egypt made easy work of Dunellen on Saturday and carried off a 13-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.
Jake Milicia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Milicia was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Aidan Healy was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for New Egypt: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-9-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Arnold, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
New Egypt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
New Egypt's victory bumped their record up to 6-9-1. As for Raritan, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.
New Egypt's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Raritan hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328.
