The Polk County Wolverines''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 49-21 loss at the hands of Brevard. Polk County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-7.
Polk County's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Keaundrae Green, who picked up 68 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 34 yards and a touchdown on only three passes. Antonio Simpson was another key contributor, picking up 125 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Benjamin Kessinger was the offensive standout of the match as he threw for 133 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Corey Matthews and his 89 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Brevard's win.
Brevard's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Polk County's QB won't forget Judson Weaver anytime soon given Weaver sacked him five times.
Polk County's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Brevard, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Polk County will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Murphy at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Murphy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Polk County in North Carolina (Murphy is ranked 112th, while Polk County is ranked 279th). As for Brevard, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Trinity at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
