A big part of Kosciusko's victory came down to the chemistry between Caiden Wade and his top target Jontavious Roundtree. Wade threw for 177 yards and three TDs while completing 78.6% of his passes while Roundtree gained 123 total yards and three touchdowns. What's more, Wade racked up 159.2 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September. Jonterrious Herron made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Kosciusko didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Mylan Johnson-Herron and Herron, who each picked up one interception apiece. Herron got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Itawamba Agricultural strolled past Tishomingo County with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 42-23. The Indians' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Kosciusko better keep an eye on Xavier Waters. He was instrumental in Itawamba Agricultural's win, rushing for 145 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Waters' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 145 rushing yards. Another player making a difference was Ashton Hoots, who threw for 156 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 passes.
Itawamba Agricultural was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 230 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 230 rushing yards in four consecutive games.
Kosciusko's record is now 10-1. As for Itawamba Agricultural, their record now sits at 8-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Kosciusko has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 199.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Itawamba Agricultural struggles in that department as they've been averaging 220.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Kosciusko couldn't quite finish off Itawamba Agricultural when the teams last played back in November of 2017 and fell 17-14. Can the Whippets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
