The Scotland Fighting Scots scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Hoke County at home to the tune of 77-45. Scotland has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 22 points or more this season.
Leading Scotland to victory were Morgan Thompson and Alicia McClain. Thompson scored 23 points along with nine rebounds and five assists, while McClain scored 18 points along with nine assists and eight rebounds. McClain is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madysan Hammonds, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Hoke County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Karmen Campbell, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Lailah Crowder was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with four steals.
Even though they lost, Hoke County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. This was only their 11th loss (out of 14 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Scotland has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. As for Hoke County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Scotland the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Southern Lee at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Southern Lee comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Hoke County, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Lee County at 6:00 p.m.
