Boone Grove hasn't had much luck against Valparaiso recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Wolves will be playing at home against the Vikings at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Wednesday, Boone Grove needed a bit of extra time to put away Hebron. They came out on top against the Hawks by a score of 8-5. The win continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won three in a row.
Danny Veschak looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Tristan Wilson was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. He also scored two runs, which is notable because Boone Grove is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Liam Kinsey, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Boone Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hebron only managed seven.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valparaiso). They put the hurt on Michigan City with a sharp 26-1 victory on Wednesday. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Valparaiso also got a great performance from Lucas Haas as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Haas has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Trent Gill was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three doubles. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in June of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of DJ Malloy, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Boone Grove's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Valparaiso, their victory bumped their record up to 15-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Boone Grove has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Valparaiso struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
