The Highland Huskies scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They breezed by Windsor Charter Academy at home to the tune of 68-32. Highland has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Leading Highland to victory were Mary Jones and Briza Flores. Jones dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds, while Flores scored 23 points along with six assists and five steals. Jones is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Abbie Martinez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Windsor Charter Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Morgan Kimmi, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Cassidy Curry who scored seven points. Kimmi has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.
The win was the third in a row for Highland, bringing their record for this year to 7-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Windsor Charter Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
Highland and Platte Valley will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Platte Valley has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 2. As for Windsor Charter Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge DSST: Cedar at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully DSST: Cedar focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Tuesday.
