In this week's postseason power rankings action, one team rose to the occasion while another fell hard. Among the action were the efforts of Kings Mountain's junior Kaylon Wade, an offensive menace who scored five total TDs.
Welcome
East Duplin has been an offensive powerhouse for seven straight weeks after the team lit up the scoreboard again last week. It picked up a decisive 'W' against West Stokes, finishing up at 49 - 14. East Duplin gave the West Stokes offensive line some real trouble with seven sacks (and will no doubt be looking to keep the pressure on Randleman this Friday). The win also thrust East Duplin into the power rankings, where the team now holds the 22nd spot.
Can't Touch This
Page's 41 - 16 win over Providence last week had a lot to do with the leadership of sophomore Javondre Paige. Paige tossed the ball for 255 yards and two TDs. In fact, our algorithms singled out Paige as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The confrontation between Myers Park (10th in the power rankings) and David W. Butler (17th) did not disappoint. Even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Myers Park beat David W. Butler 28 - 24. Nevertheless, Myers Park did not have enough punch to impress the power rankings algorithm and slipped one spot in the rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Page (9th in the power rankings) and Mallard Creek (1st). Both teams are coming in hot off of wins in their previous games. Given their high-scoring efforts against their previous opponents, we'll see how far they can run the score up this week.
