Nantahala and Blue Ridge Early College are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Nantahala Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Blue Ridge Early College Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Tuesday, Nantahala had to suffer through a rough 78-28 loss at the hands of Andrews. While losing is never fun, Nantahala can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 586th, while Andrews is ranked 219th).
Meanwhile, Blue Ridge Early College's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Cherokee on the road and fell 92-44.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ethan Henson, who scored 21 points. He scored a full 47.7% of Blue Ridge Early College's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Eric Puskarich was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Nantahala now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Blue Ridge Early College, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-8.
