Justin Hascup made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Old Bridge let John Sorrano and Matt Chin run wild. Sorrano went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Chin went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Chin a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brody Nugent, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Seton Hall Prep got the win against Columbia on Thursday by a conclusive 8-0. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won four games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Kaden Frei was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. William Mahala was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Old Bridge is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Seton Hall Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.
