The East Greenwich Avengers will face off against the West Warwick Wizards at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (East Greenwich 3.5, West Warwick 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
East Greenwich is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Johnston, who was ranked 18th at the time (East Greenwich was ranked 13th). The Avengers were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Panthers on Monday. The Avengers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Kayleigh Chaiyabhat made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooke Fairbanks, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Maura Taylor was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs.
East Greenwich kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Johnston only managed four hits.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but West Warwick ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They skirted past St. Raphael Academy 3-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Wizards, who have now won three games in a row.
Bryce Principe spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Adrianna Carsetti was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Iannotti, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
West Warwick's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for East Greenwich, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
Both East Greenwich and West Warwick just can't seem to miss. The Avengers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like West Warwick struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went East Greenwich's way against West Warwick when the teams last played back in May of 2023, as East Greenwich made off with a 10-0 win. Do the Avengers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wizards turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
