There's no place like home for Appalachian Christian, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road back in November of 2023. They blew past Pipestem Christian Academy 86-56 at home. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Silas Mattox, who scored 16 points along with five steals. The match was Mattox's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Enoch Gonderman, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
The win got Appalachian Christian back to even at 1-1. As for Pipestem Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Appalachian Christian will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mercer Christian Academy at 6:45 p.m. on January 22nd. As for Pipestem Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against Jefferson Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
