Plainville dropped down to 6-4 on Wednesday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell 27-14 to the Farmington River Hawks. Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Anthony Abarno, who threw for 164 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 30 yards and one TD. 90 of Abarno's passing yards were hauled in by Chase Bouchard, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 2.5 yards per carry. While two picked up at least eight total tackles, Jose Gutierrez stood above the rest. He picked up two sacks and made eight total tackles in addition to snagging an interception. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Plainville; they were averaging 3.8yards per carry per game earlier this season, but in their last three matchups they've fallen to only 4.8 per game.
