The Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Huntingdon Bearcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for Bishop Guilfoyle: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home dating back to last season, while Huntingdon has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Bishop Guilfoyle nor Richland made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Marauders put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 7-1 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Marauders as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Brody Gartman and Michael Cacciotti made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Gartman pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Cacciotti didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bishop Guilfoyle is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-7 otherwise. At the plate, Gartman went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run, while Cacciotti went 1-for-3 with two runs. Those two runs gave Cacciotti a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lex Dixon, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Jesse Georgianna was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Bishop Guilfoyle kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Huntingdon hadn't done well against Philipsburg-Osceola recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Bearcats came out on top against the Mountaineers by a score of 8-3.
Erick Rupert was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Grady Clark, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Bishop Guilfoyle's victory bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Huntingdon, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.
Bishop Guilfoyle was able to grind out a solid victory over Huntingdon in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 4-1. Will the Marauders repeat their success, or do the Bearcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
