After losing to the Piute Thunderbirds the last time they met, the Wayne Badgers decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Wayne secured a 47-41 W over Piute on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Wayne.
Wayne's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was AJ Vandyke, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Vandyke has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Williams, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Wayne's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Piute, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-4.
Wayne will head out on the road to take on Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Valley is ranked 84th, while Wayne is ranked 71st). As for Piute, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Milford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Milford focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 last Saturday.
