The Ruskin Christian Warriors put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Brandon Academy 48-45. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Ruskin Christian has scored all year.
Despite the defeat, Brandon Academy had strong showings from Shavon Birch, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds, and Jeremiah McNeely, who scored 12 points. McNeely scored a full 26.7% of Brandon Academy's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Ruskin Christian's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. As for Brandon Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Ruskin Christian will head out on the road to face off against Carrollwood Day at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Carrollwood Day focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Thursday. Brandon Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bayshore Christian at 6:00 p.m. on December 8th. Bayshore Christian is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
