Littlestown is 7-1 against Fairfield since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Littlestown will take on Fairfield at 4:15 p.m. Littlestown is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Littlestown earned a 9-6 victory over New Oxford. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Thunderbolts.
Adyson Popoff was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Stonesifer, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Littlestown hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Fairfield came up short against Delone Catholic on Wednesday, falling 17-5. The Knights have struggled against the Squires recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.
Fairfield saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddy Payne, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Payne is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Aubree Eichenlaub was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Littlestown's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Fairfield, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Littlestown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .381. However, it's not like Fairfield struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Littlestown took their win against Fairfield in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 9-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Littlestown since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
