Basketball Recap: Crooms Academy Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Crooms Academy faced off against Taylor on Monday. The Crooms Academy Panthers were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 61-60 to the Taylor Wildcats. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kenai Anderson, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 17 points in addition to five boards and five steals. Anderson's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Gill, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.

Leading Taylor to victory were Jace Harcus and Zachery McKinnon. Harcus went 10 of 16 on his way to 28 points, while McKinnon dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 boards. The dominant performance gave McKinnon a new career-high in points. Josue Lorenzo was another key player, putting up two points along with six rebounds and four blocks.

Crooms Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Taylor, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Crooms Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 68-63 defeat against Innovation on the 11th. As for Taylor, they will challenge Florida School for the Deaf & Blind at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Taylor is facing Florida School for the Deaf & Blind at the right time seeing as Florida School for the Deaf & Blind is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
