The Antonito Trojans suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They took a serious blow against Centennial, falling 83-38. Antonito has not had much luck with Centennial recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Antonito's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Octavian Martinez, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Martinez has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jasiah Jiron, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Centennial to victory, but perhaps none more so than Devon Vigil, who scored 19 points along with nine assists and six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Vigil posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Jacquez, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 assists.
Antonito's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Centennial, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Antonito's road trip will continue as they head out to face Moffat at 6:30 p.m. on January 20th. Moffat will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Centennial, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Lake City Community at 3:30 p.m.
