The Scottsdale Preparatory Academy Spartans suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They were the victim of a rough 56-32 defeat at the hands of Joseph City. Scottsdale Preparatory Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-18.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chloe Crandall, who scored 11 points along with two blocks. That's the first time this season that Crandall posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Maeve Morgan, who scored five points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Joseph City found their leader in underclassman Amber Neill, who scored 18 points along with four steals. Neill hasn't dropped below two steals for 15 straight games. April Neill was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Scottsdale Preparatory Academy and nudges their season record down to 12-8. As for Joseph City, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 17-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Scottsdale Preparatory Academy will challenge Red Rock at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Red Rock is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for Joseph City, they will head out on the road to challenge Williams at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Williams focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Saturday.
