The Bellarmine Prep Lions will venture away from home to challenge the Timberline Blazers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Bellarmine Prep has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 14.
Bellarmine Prep lost 18-5 to River Ridge on Thursday.
Fatima Echeverria was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Ashlyn Powell also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Timberline came out on top against Central Kitsap on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run first inning. The Blazers put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 10-3 victory. The Blazers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.
Nevaeh Haagen made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Haagen was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Sophia Wiggs was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kayleese Dorfner, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs.
The win made it two in a row for Timberline and bumps their season record up to 9-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Bellarmine Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bellarmine Prep has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Timberline struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Bellarmine Prep came up short against Timberline when the teams last played back in April of 2016, falling 5-2. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
