The Del Norte Tigers's game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They had just enough and edged South Park out 29-27. That's another feather in the cap for Del Norte, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Del Norte to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lashawn Trujillo, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kelby Mondragon, who scored seven points along with five steals.
South Park's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Blake Basnett, who scored 14 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Campbell, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.
Del Norte's victory bumped their record up to 3-7. As for South Park, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Del Norte will head out on the road to face off against the Thunderbirds at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Sangre de Cristo focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Friday. As for South Park, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cotopaxi is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
