University is 0-4 against the Titans since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The two teams will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (University has four straight wins, the Titans have three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
University scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took down Freedom 54-35.
University's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacqueline Leap, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmine Fajardo, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 57-30, which was the final score in Olympia's tilt against the Seminoles on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Olympia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 344th, while the Seminoles are ranked 142nd).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Ava Pazos, who scored 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Arlinda Roundtree, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
University's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-11. As for Olympia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.
University might still be hurting after the 55-33 loss they got from the Titans when the teams last played back in January of 2021. Thankfully for University, Amanda N mclendon (who dropped a triple-double on 20 points, ten rebounds, and ten blocks) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
