The Richland Springs Coyotes waltzed into their game on Tuesday with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They breezed by Brookesmith at home to the tune of 63-31. Richland Springs has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Richland Springs got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayden Sutherland out in front who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Connor Womack, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds.
Despite the loss, Brookesmith had strong showings from Trey Toft, who scored 11 points, and Jase Moreno, who scored ten points.
Richland Springs pushed their record up to 9-3 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Brookesmith, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-8.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Lometa the next time they take the court. Brookesmith will head out to face Lometa at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Richland Springs will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
