Indian Creek is 0-3 against Shelbyville since February of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Indian Creek Braves will be staying on the road to face off against the Shelbyville Golden Bears at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th. Hopefully Indian Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Indian Creek was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 58-54 to West Vigo. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Indian Creek came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while West Vigo is ranked 283rd).
Indian Creek's loss came about despite a quality game from Carter Modlin, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and seven assists. Modlin is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Crouch, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Shelbyville was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 49-44 to Greenfield-Central. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Shelbyville in their matchups with Greenfield-Central: they've now lost five in a row.
Indian Creek's record now sits at 11-3. Shelbyville's record now sits at 9-6.
Indian Creek came up short against Shelbyville in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 64-56. Can Indian Creek avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
