After flying high against Madison last Friday, Mater Dei came back down to earth. The Mater Dei Knights took a 29-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Macomb Bombers on Friday. Even if they lost, Mater Dei's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Chandler Toennies was especially locked on to Macomb's QB and sacked him twice. Toennies also set a new season high mark in total tackles with seven.
Braden Holthaus continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Macomb, rushing for 104 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 114 yards and a touchdown.
Mater Dei now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Macomb, the victory for them keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Mater Dei wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 42-7 win against Marquette Catholic on the 5th. As for Macomb, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 26-20 defeat against Farmington on the 4th.
