With a playoff win on the line, Union Area rose to the challenge  on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Jefferson-Morgan Rockets  a   15-0 shutout. Considering the Scotties have won 16 matchups by more than six  runs this season, Friday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Mia Preuhs was a  major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  struck out six batters over  three innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate,  firing off two  home runs, five  RBI,  and three  runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most  home runs  she has posted since back in March.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Irelyn Fisher, who  went a perfect 2-for-2 with one  home run, four  RBI,  and two  runs. That's the most  RBI  she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of  Olivia Benedict, who  went 2-for-3 with two  runs, two  doubles,  and one  stolen base.
The  win made it two in a row for Union Area and  bumps their season record up to 18-2. Those  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0  runs in those games. As for Jefferson-Morgan, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.
As of now, neither Union Area nor the Rockets have any future games scheduled.
