Softball Recap: Lower Dauphin Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

Lower Dauphin entered their tilt with Central Dauphin East on Wednesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Panthers. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by ten runs or more this season.

Carissa Wenner was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jordan Frye, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lyllee Schmidt, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Lower Dauphin hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in ten consecutive contests.

Lower Dauphin pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Central Dauphin East, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lower Dauphin will take on Gettysburg at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Central Dauphin East, they will square off against Carlisle at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
