Regent Prep is 4-0 against Depew since September of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Regent Prep will be playing at home against the Depew Hornets at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Regent Prep had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 46.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 52-6 win over Pioneer-Pleasant Vale on the road. Given Regent Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Pioneer-Pleasant Vale is ranked 39th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Even though Depew has not done well against Davenport recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Depew took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 57-8 victory over Davenport. The victory was familiar territory for Depew who now have three in a row.
Depew's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyler Burdick led the charge by throwing for 200 yards and four touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Jess Smith, who picked up 107 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Regent Prep to 7-1 and Depew to 5-5.
Everything came up roses for Regent Prep against Depew when the teams last played back in October of 2021 as the squad secured a 49-0 win. Will Regent Prep repeat their success, or does Depew have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
