The La Joya Community Fighting Lobos scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Gila Ridge and snuck past 61-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Makuach Makuei was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with seven rebounds. Those 26 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Joseph Rukundo, who scored 11 points.
The win makes it two in a row for La Joya Community and bumps their season record up to 3-11. As for Gila Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.
La Joya Community will be playing at home against Lake Havasu at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Lake Havasu is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Gila Ridge, they will face off against Desert Sunrise at 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
