Lee Williams is 2-7 against Bradshaw Mountain since October of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Volunteers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bears at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lee Williams is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Westview: they outscored them in every quarter. The Volunteers put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 35-10 victory on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Volunteers as they're now sitting on three straight.
Lee Williams' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lucas Leist, who rushed for 159 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 91 yards. Another receiver making a difference was Cooper Cronk, who picked up 113 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Bradshaw Mountain over Flagstaff in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Bears blew the Eagles out of the water with a 49-6 final score. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won five in a row.
Bradshaw Mountain had a senior duo take command as Kylin Jackson rushed for 205 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.3 yards per carry and Michael Sanford rushed for 103 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries. Jackson's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his 12th straight game with at least 102 rushing yards dating back to last season.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Bradshaw Mountain was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 326 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 165 rushing yards in five consecutive games.
Bradshaw Mountain didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Antonio Valenzuela and Jackson. Jackson also punched in three rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Bradshaw Mountain is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise.
Lee Williams' win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Bradshaw Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Lee Williams has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 229 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Bradshaw Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 248.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Lee Williams ended up a good deal behind Bradshaw Mountain in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, losing 47-29. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Jackson, who rushed for 175 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 carries.
