The Hawbridge Herons kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. The New Year welcomed they with a 56-4 whooping from St. Thomas More Academy.
St. Thomas More Academy found their leader in underclassman LIlian Marquardt, who scored 12 points along with nine steals and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Adella Dehring, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Hawbridge's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for St. Thomas More Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.
Hawbridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. St. Thomas More Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Cristo Rey Research Triangle on January 3rd. Cristo Rey Research Triangle is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
