The Timberline Wolves will square off against the Rocky Mountain Grizzlies at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Timberline has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Ridgevue hit Timberline with a four-run seventh inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wolves fell just short of the Warhawks by a score of 8-7.
Aidan Messerschmitt was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Logan Sweet, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Rocky Mountain faced Ridgevue in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Grizzlies walked away with a 6-3 win over the Warhawks.
Reece Hudson tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
At the plate, Aiden Henzler was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lincoln Mathis, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Rocky Mountain hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ridgevue struck out seven times.
Rocky Mountain's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Timberline, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.
Timberline might still be hurting after the 15-5 defeat they got from Rocky Mountain in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
