Northern Durham has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Person Rockets at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Wake Forest scored an imposing 61 points on Monday, Northern Durham still came out on top. Northern Durham walked away with a 68-61 win over Wake Forest.
Nick Hicklen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Austin Perry, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Person ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They managed a 56-51 victory over Franklinton. Given Person's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Franklinton is ranked 505th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northern Durham's record is now 2-5. Person's record now sits at 5-1.
Northern Durham came up short against Person in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 57-52. Can Northern Durham avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
