The Marlington Dukes are taking a road trip to challenge the Hubbard Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Marlington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Hubbard will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Marlington extended their winning streak to three on Thursday. The Dukes walked away with a 10-6 win over Alliance.
Justine Doringo made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Marlington got a massive performance out of Chelsea Miller, who fired off two home runs, four RBI, and one double while going 4-for-5. That's the most hits Miller has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Faith Savage, who went 4-for-5 with one home run and four runs.
Marlington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Hubbard posted their closest victory since April 7th on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Salem 2-1. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won three matchups in a row.
Hubbard's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Layla Songer, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
Hubbard pushed their record up to 15-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Marlington, their record now sits at 12-5.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Marlington hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like Hubbard struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Marlington skirted past Hubbard 12-11 when the teams last played back in May of 2021. Do the Dukes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
