After a string of three wins, the Overton Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 64-38 walloping at the hands of Southern Valley. Overton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Southern Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eli Luther, who scored 12 points. The match was Luther's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brock McCarter, who scored 7 points along with 4 blocks and 3 steals.
Overton struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Southern Valley racked up 11.
Kamden Bose continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Southern Valley, scoring 18 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Bose has scored at least 25% of Southern Valley's points. Rian Grove was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds.
Overton's loss dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Southern Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 1-3.
Overton will be playing in front of their home fans against Anselmo-Merna on Tuesday. As for Southern Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Gothenburg at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
