The loss was a bit of a surprise, as North Edgecombe came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while Martin County is ranked 332nd).
Weldon's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for North Edgecombe, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-3.
